RF Transport Ministry opposes exclusion of small-size vessels from Transport Security Law

RF Ministry of Transport is against adoption of the bill providing for exclusion of small-size vessels from the Federal Law On Transport Security (No16-FZ), Nikolai Zakhryapin, Deputy Minister of Transport, told IAA PortNews at the V International Forum “Transport Security” being held in Saint-Petersburg. 

According to him, small-size vessels can be involved in commercial transportation of passengers and hazardous cargoes which causes certain risks, therefore it is reasonable to preserve this legislation.

As Aleksandr Staravoitov, Deputy Chairman of State Duma’s Transport Committee, told IAA PortNews, there is no unified position on this issue but the Committee tends to oppose the bill taking into consideration negative comments of the experts.
