Under the Russian Government’s order № 115 from February 2, 2006, the third International Maritime Defence Show will be held from June 27 and July 1, 2007 in St.Petersburg. The organizer of the IMDS-2007 is the Federal Industry Agency (“ROSPROM”). The format of the Show includes: exposition located in the exhibition complex territory in the Harbour of St. Petersburg; demonstration of naval armaments and technics along the quays of Sea Station that are located in the immediate proximity to the exhibition pavilions; demonstration of gun-firing exercises at the artillery range; demonstration of naval aircrafts and helicopters at the air station and in the area of demonstration flights over the waters of the Gulf of Finland; negotiations with the members of official foreign delegations; attendance of the manufacturers of naval technics and armaments; international scientific conferences, round-table discussions, seminars and presentations.
352 companies and organizations from twenty countries, including fifty-six foreign ones, have participated in the IMDS-2005. Stalls of Russian and foreign exhibitors were arranged in five halls of an exhibition complex with a total area of 12 000 square meters, and over 700 square meters of open-air grounds. Twenty-eight foreign delegations from twenty-six countries have visited the IMDS. The demonstration sector involved nineteen combat surface ships and boats, including 10 ones displayed by the Russian Navy and the Federal Border Guard Forces. Nine combatant and patrol crafts were displayed by the enterprises that took part in the Show.
Seven types of naval aircrafts and helicopters were demonstrated at the Pushkin air station. Demonstration flights were carried out during two days. The pilots of “Strizhy” and “Russkie Vityazi” teams and seaplanes BE-200 and BE-103 took part in these demonstrations.
The Rzhevka range offered sixteen artillery-firing demonstrations.
Seventeen congress and business arrangements, including two scientific conferences and two round-table discussions were held during the IMDS. For the first time a sailing regatta competition was conducted for the IMDS prize and it will be organized in future as well.
19 800 specialists took part in the work of the IMDS. The mass media took a great interest in the IMDS-2005. Over 350 representatives from 129 mass media agencies were accredited in the press-center of IMDS-2005.
