Throughput of port Ventspils (Latvia) down 16.4% to 7.5 mln t in QI'15

In January-March 2015, the port of Ventspils handled 7.5 mln t of cargo (-16.4%, year-on-year), the port authority informs.  In March, the port handled 2.7 mln t of cargo.

Compared to the previous year, three out of ten terminals at the Freeport of Ventspils increased their throughput in January-March 2015: Ventall Termināls - 105%, Noord Natie Ventspils Terminals –14%, Ventspils Grain Terminal – handled 55,000 t of cargo (no cargo was handled by this terminal in January-February 2014).

The following terminals showed the decrease: Kālija parks - 85%, Baltic Coal Terminal - 31%, Ventbunkers - 39%, Ventspils Nafta termināls - 4%, Ventspils tirdzniecības osta - 19%, Ventamonjaks serviss - 22%, Ventplac - 15%.

Ventspils port is located near Venta river. There are terminals for loading and unloading of crude and oil products, liquid chemicals and fertilizers, metal and coal, timber and fish, containers and Ro-Ro trailers. In 2014, the port handled 26.02 mln t of cargo (-9%, year-on-year).
