Arkhangelsk Region Governor suggests setting up of federal center for Arctic research in Arkhangelsk
Arkhangelsk Region Governor Igor Orlov suggests setting up of a federal center for Arctic research in Arkhangelsk. According to the Governor’s press center, this initiative was put forward at the meeting of the State Committee on Arctic Development.
Igor Orlov says Arkhangelsk is a good background for scientific capacity building. There are 8 institutions of the Federal Agency for Scientific Organizations in the region including an Arkhangelsk-based Scientific Center of RAS Urals Branch.
“That powerful scientific center would let focus on large-scale scientific projects, save finances and attract young specialists. It will serve as a basis for the Arctic integration cluster,” the Governor thinks.
