New container terminal to be opened at Krasnoyarsk smelter

Introduction of a new terminal at Krasnoyarsk smelter will enable 15-fold increase of containerized cargo shipped from the plant by Krasnoyarsk railway, the railway’s PR service reports. Krasnoyarsk smelter will be able to reinforce its position at regional container market. Optimization of logistics chain will save up to 650 rubles per each ton of metal. It is planned to ship up to 30 thou tons of aluminum per month from May 2007. In December, Krasnoyarsk smelter plans to dispatch first 6 thou tons of aluminum.

Total investments into the project totaled RUR 177.5 million. Major customers of the plant will be Poland, France, Germany, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and USA. The containers are to be transported by Trans-Siberian railway.
