SSDRs of Gazprom Flot to drill production wells in Sea of Okhotsk this year (photo)
The Polyarnaya Zvezda and Severnoye Siyaniye semi-submerged drilling rigs of Gazprom Flot LLC are ready for the drilling season of 2015, the Company management said following the working trip to Sakhalin.
According to press center of Gazprom Flot, the Polyarnaya Zvezda and Severnoye Siyaniye are to drill production wells at the Kirinskoye gas and condensate field located 28 kilometers off the Sakhalin Island shore in the Sea of Okhotsk.
Gazprom Flot LLC is a 100% owned subsidiary of OAO Gazprom, formed in 1994 to assist in exploration work and development of offshore oil and gas deposits on the continental shelf of the Russian Federation. The Company provides a full range of work on the development of offshore gas fields, transportation of commodities by sea, as well as other marine solutions. Over the 20-year long period of operation, Gazprom FLot has drilled 48 wells and discovered 9 oil and gas fields with aggregate reserves exceeding 2 bln t of fuel equivalent.
The Polyarnaya Zvezda and Severnoye Siyaniye semi-submerged drilling rigs were manufactured on Gazprom's order by the Vyborg Shipbuilding Plant in 2011. The platforms are designed for operation under the Arctic conditions and can drill exploration and production wells down to 7,500 meters at water depths between 70 and 500 meters.
