FCT launched new technology for electronic release of import containers from the terminal
First Container Terminal Incorporated (a Global Ports Group terminal) together with LLC ROLIS launched a new technology for electronic release of import containers from the terminal.
The innovative system is based on cloud digital signatures and allows to release containers without generating paper documents. The technology is based on ROLIS certifying center and CONTERRA information system. Security is ensured through certified means of digital signature and additional sms-based authentication. Previously, when a container was loaded the driver had to leave the truck to receive documents at the service center. The new technology allows the driver to sign the documents with a digital signature using his mobile phone without leaving the cabin.
Introduction of the electronic system for release of import containers is part of FCT’s comprehensive project to transfer to an electronic document exchange system. The new technology will allow to significantly improve customer service and operating safety.
FCT became the first Russian terminal to arrange for full electronic document exchange at all stages of cargo handling. Back in 2009 FCT was the first stevedoring company in Russia to introduce a digital signature process and in 2013 it was the first terminal to implement electronic document exchange with the Russian Federal Customs Service.
First Container Terminal (FCT) in Saint Petersburg is Russia’s largest container terminal (in 2014 the terminal handled 941,000 TEUs).
