Passenger Port of Saint Petersburg and city authorities cooperate for developing cruise and ferry tourism (photo)

On June 18, an agreement was signed between “Passenger Port of Saint Petersburg “Marine Façade” PLC and the St. Petersburg Committee on Development of Tourism. The agreement defines the primary areas of cooperation in making St. Petersburg a more attractive international cruise and ferry centre.

Among the main lines of collaboration are improved communication, joint organization of and participation in specialized MICE events, development of common marketing strategy principles and improved effectiveness of interaction with marine tourism community.

The agreement is valid until 2020 with an option of extension. As a follow-up to the agreement the parties will every year sign a plan of activities setting the priorities for the following year.

Passenger Port of Saint-Petersburg «Marine Façade» PLC is in the ownership of the city of St. Petersburg and is the largest passenger seaport in Russia. Construction of Marine Façade began in 2006. The port can accommodate cruise and ferry ships of up to 330 m long and with a draft of up to 8.8 m. The length and depth of new access channels - 10 km and 11 m, accordingly. The port operates seven piers. The quay wall length – 2,171.06 m.
