GTT and LNG-Gorskaya sign agreement related to production of LNG tanks

French engineering company GTT and Russian company LNG-Gorskaya LLC have signed an agreement on transfer of documentation and providing of information about production of cargo sections for three bunkering tankers being built at the shipyards of the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC). As LNG-Gorskaya told IAA PortNews, the agreement is to secure implementation of the contract on designing and building Russia’s first LNG bunkering tankers signed by LNG-Gorskaya and USC in May 2015. GTT is to design vessels’ cargo tanks according to Mark III membrane system technology under the contract signed by Philippe Berterottière, President of GTT, and Kirill Lyats, Director General of LNG-Gorskaya.

“Membrane containment systems developed by GTT engineers for liquefied gas is the world’s best technology today, - Kirill Lyats said. - It ensures safe and environmentally friendly transportation of LNG. Therefore, we have discussed with our colleagues a possibility of GTT participation in designing and supply of materials for LNG Gorskaya floating plant’s membrane storage facility, apart from designing of cargo tanks.”

LNG-Gorskaya LLC has recently signed a contract with the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) on building Russia’s first three LNG bunkering tankers for the project on construction of an LNG plant with annual capacity of 1.26 mln t of LNG at Gorskaya station near Saint-Petersburg.  Under the contract valued at RUB 5.67 bln, the Corporation is to build three tankers with the capacity of 7,300 cbm each. The contract term is 22 months. The option under the contract provides for the construction of additional six LNG tankers.

LNG-Gorskaya LLC is involved in the project on creation of an LNG company with its own fleet to deliver LNG to European consumers and to bunker vessels in the water area of the Gulf of Finland.

The project implies the construction of a floating LNG plant with annual capacity of 1.26 mln t of LNG, 9 bunkering tankers, pier, loading rack and gas pipeline, as well as the creation of several LNG terminals outside Russia: in Finland, Germany and Sweden.

Liquefied natural gas will be produced by a complex assembled on a non-self-propelled barge. The plant will be able to process 1.968 bln cbm of gas per year. LNG-Gorskaya LLC is going to put the complex into operation and to start selling LNG in December 2016.

GTT (Gaztransport & Technigaz) is an engineering company formed in 1994 by the merger of the two major players in the field of LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) membrane containment systems: Gaztransport and S.N.Technigaz. GTT’s two main areas of expertise are cargo containment systems (CCS) for LNG carriers and land storage of LNG. The Company’s net profit in 2013 made EUR 118.7 mln, revenue — EUR 217.6 mln.
