A tour from Saint-Petersburg to Kronshtadt marked the 500th anniversary voyage of Astramarine Group, IAA PortNews reporter says.
A unique tour to Kronshtadt (German: Krone for "crown" and Stadt for "city"), world-famous city of Russian maritime glory located on Kotlin Island in the Baltic Sea was arranged on a comfortable high-speed ‘Meteor’.
The voyage started in the very heart of Saint-Petersburg, at the Central Pier (Pier with Lions). The ‘Meteor’ passed the central water area of the Neva river surrounded with the key sights of the city: the Hermitage, Peter and Paul Fortress, Rostral Columns etc. Then the vessel sailed round the Spit of Vasilyevsky Island and entered the Gulf of Finland along the Malaya Neva.
On the way to Kronshtadt the guide was telling the city history.
Exciting tour in Kronshtadt included the walking tour passing the central sights of the city and a visit to the Naval Cathedral.
On the way back the ‘Meteor’ followed a special route allowing for viewing of the forts.
