On August 22, the Magellan cruise ship made her inaugural call to Passenger port of Saint Petersburg, bringing over 1,300 passengers. A customary plaque exchange ceremony was held aboard the ship.
The ship has come to St. Petersburg during her 12-day Baltic and Northern Sea cruise that began in London on August 16. The route also includes Warnemünde, Copenhagen, Tallinn and Helsinki. In 20125 the ship is making a total of 2 calls to Passenger port of Saint Petersburg.
Earlier, under the name of Grand Holiday, the ship belonged to the largest cruise company Carnival Corporation and plc, but in 2015 it has entered the fleet of Global Cruise Lines Ltd. and sailed for the first time under the new name on the 12th of July 2015. The total length of the ship is 221 meters, displacement – 46 000 tons, cruising speed – 16 knots.
It is noteworthy that in 2014 during the Winter Olympics in Sochi the ship was used as a floating hotel for the visitors of the event.
Also today Passenger port is receiving the Nautica cruise ship of Prestige Cruise Line Holdings.
Passenger Port of Saint-Petersburg «Marine Façade» PLC is in the ownership of the city of St. Petersburg and is the largest passenger seaport in Russia. Construction of Marine Façade began in 2006. The port can accommodate cruise and ferry ships of up to 330 m long and with a draft of up to 8.8 m. The length and depth of new access channels - 10 km and 11 m, accordingly. The port operates seven piers. The quay-side length – 2,171.06 m.
