Throughput of Vostochny Port JSC up 4.5% to 15.37 mln t in 8M’15 (photo)
In January-August 2015, Vostochny Port JSC handled 15.37 mln t of cargo (+4.5%. year-on-year), the stevedore’s press center says.
In August the company handled 2.24 mln t of cargo (against 2.14 t loaded onto APR bound vessels in August’14).
According to the statement, the growth was driven by the efforts of Specialized Coal Terminal which handled 1.77 mln t of cargo in August (+2.3%, year-on-year) while Universal Handling Terminal increase its result by 14.5% to 473,500 t.
JSC Vostochny Port is the major stevedoring company of Russia specializing in coal transshipment. As of today, export coal (mainly coal mined in Kuzbass) accounts for 98% of the company’s turnover with 1.5% of the coastal trade coal and 0.01% of other cargoes. The company’s assets include a Specialized Coal Terminal with conveyer equipment system and railcar unloading station and a Universal Handling Terminal which specializes in clamshell coal handling. The Terminals’ annual capacities are 14.2 mln tonnes and 3 mln tonnes respectively.
In 2012, Vostochny Port commenced the construction of the Third phase of the Coal Terminal.
