St. Peter Line ferries which currently use the infrastructure of the Sea Terminal will switch to Passenger Port of Saint-Petersburg «Marine Façade» in Quarter I’2017, IAA PortNews reporter cites Serik Zhusupov, head of PLC Passenger Port of Saint Petersburg “Marine Façade”, as telling journalists yesterday.
“The infrastructure is ready for handling ferries while the infrastructure for operation of control authorities is to be developed”, Serik Zhusupov said.
On March 13th 2015 the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev has signed the Order No. 413-р on reclassification of the Russian Federation state border checkpoint at the “Passenger port of Saint Petersburg” seaport by type of international communication from passenger to freight and passenger.
The first passenger ferry with motor vehicles is expected to appear in the Port not before quarter I, 2017after the central part of Western High-Speed Diameter (WHSD) is put into operation. It is scheduled for QIII’ 2016.
Passenger Port of Saint-Petersburg «Marine Façade» PLC is in the ownership of the city of St. Petersburg and is the largest passenger seaport in Russia. Construction of Marine Façade began in 2006. The port can accommodate cruise and ferry ships of up to 330 m long and with a draft of up to 8.8 m. The length and depth of new access channels - 10 km and 11 m, accordingly. The port operates seven piers. The quay-side length – 2,171.06 m.
