On October 27, 2015, Krasnoye Sormovo shipyard (Nizhny Novgorod, United Shipbuilding Corporation), shipping company Volgotrans LLC and Goznak-leasing CJSC signed two three-party contracts for supply of two chemical tankers of improved Project RST27. The contracts have been signed with assistance of MNP Group, press center of MNP Group (Marine Oil & Gas Projects), the Group’s press center says.
Under the contracts, the shipyard will build two chemical tankers of Project RST27 for Volgotrans with Goznak-leasing as a leasing company. The delivery is scheduled for 2017.
The new chemical carrier is a ship upgraded for transportation of a wide range of products. Project RST27 was essentially revised by Marine Engineering Bureau (Odessa). Detailed design was developed by Volgo - Caspian Design Bureau and engineering center of Krasnoye Sormovo. New class notation - КМ (*) Ice1 R2 AUT1-ICS OMBO VCS ECO-S Oil tanker /Chemical tanker type 2 (vegetable oil) (ESP) of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping.
The new tanker can carry a wide range of oil products and chemical cargoes including additional line of methanol products.
Vessel’s characteristics: Sea / river DWT – 6,980 /5,400 tonnes with draft of 4.2 / 3.6 m. LOA - 140.85 m, beam - 16.86 m, depth - 6 m. Operational speed – 10.5 knots.
The design takes into account special requirements of Russian and global oil companies as well as additional environmental restrictions of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping «ECO PROJECT» (ECO-S).
The first tanker of Project RST27 was launched at Krasnoye Sormovo and delivered to the customer in September 2015.

Krasnoye Sormovo OJSC is one of Russia's oldest shipyards. It was founded in 1849. In 2011, it entered the United Shipbuilding Corporation. The shipyard is Russia’s leader in construction of civil river and sea-and-river going vessels. United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC OJSC) is the largest shipbuilding company in Russia. It was set up in 2007 with 100% federal ownership. The holding comprises 60 companies and organizations (major shipbuilding and shiprepairing companies as well as leading design bureaus). Currently, USC consolidates about 80% of the domestic shipbuilding complex. The Russian market is the main focus of the state corporation though it also exports its products to 20 countries worldwide.
