Baltic Fleet training ship Smolny is heading to the permanent base

Training ship Smolny of the Baltic Fleet is passing straits the Great Belt, the Sound, the Kattegat, the Skagerrak, which connect the North Sea with the Baltic Sea, says press center of RF Defence Ministry.

It will arrive in Baltiysk on October 29.

The training cruise of the ship had started on September 3. The Smolny has passed over 7 000 nautical miles. The long-range cruise is carried out within the sea practice of over 300 cadets of the military naval institutions of the Russian Ministry of Defence. Two hundred of the future naval officers are the representatives of the Baltic military naval institute named after Admiral Ushakov. The Commander of the training cruise – the Chief of the institute Captain 1st rank Vyacheslav Rodionov.
