On September 28, 2015, NYK Line (Vietnam) Co. Ltd. became a wholly owned subsidiary of NYK, the company said in its press release.
Nearly nine years ago, NYK Line (Vietnam) Co. Ltd. was established in Vietnam as a joint-venture maritime transport agency between NYK (equity 51%) and the VOSA Group of Companies (equity 49%). NYK recently purchased VOSA’s shares, and the Vietnamese government approved the application for NYK Line (Vietnam) Co. Ltd. to become a wholly owned subsidiary.
The NYK Group carries about 300,000 TEUs to and from Vietnam annually, connecting the country to the world through 12 direct liner services. NYK also serves the country with bulk shipping services, transporting a wide range of cargo, such as coal, wood chips, and industrial plant facilities.
