Within 9 months of 2015 OJSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” (SP SPb) transferred 17.9 mln Rubles for the implementation of the environmental programme, the port’s press center says.
Funds were transferred for protection of water area of the Gulf of Finland, air protection, provision of safe handling of wastes and continuous work of environmental facilities of SP SPb.
In particular, the company took measures for protection of water resources including regular monitoring of use of coastal area, treatment and control of waste waters. SP SPb also performed works on maintenance of water disposal system and its modernization.
Within the reporting period the company performed analysis of air samples taken in the end of sanitary protection area. The researchers confirmed that air quality meets air quality targets.
SP SPb secured timely removal and disposal of wastes following sanitary and epidemiologic requirements for handling wastes.
OJSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” (included in UCL Port – stevedoring division of the International transportation group UCL Holding) – is the largest operator, rendering services on handling of all types of dry cargoes in the Greater Port of Saint-Petersburg. It operates by modern multipurpose specialized terminals for handling of general and bulk cargoes and specialized terminals for ro-ro cargoes. In 2014 the turnover of the company amounted to 8.1 mln tons.
