At the meeting dedicated to the development of the Far East port complex held on December 17, 2015, Yury Trutnev, Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District, suggested analyzing and developing proposals on efficient use of the waterfront. According to him, fictitious construction sites occupying the plots of land advantageous for port infrastructure “should be asked nicely to leave the territory”, press center of Vostochny Port says.

“Construction should be carried out by companies involved in real construction activities.

Yury Trutnev visited the construction site of Vostochny Port’s Phase 3 and held a meeting at the Company’s headquarters with participation of Deputy Transport Minister Victor Olersky and representatives of Primorsky Territory’s authorities and businesses.

During the visit to Phase 3 construction site, Anatoly Lazarev, Managing Director of Vostochny Port, told Yury Trutnev that cargo base of the new coal terminal has already been confirmed. “Long-term agreements were signed with Russia’s largest coal producers, SUEK and Kuzbassrazrezugol, at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok,” said Anatoly Lazarev.

The issue of cargo base for the terminals under construction was also touched by Victor Olersky in his report at the meeting. According to the Deputy Minister, not all transshipment complexes, coal terminals in particular, can guarantee the demand. “When it comes to federal investments, budget effectiveness should be ensured” Victor Olersky said.

JSC Vostochny Port is the major stevedoring company of Russia specializing in coal transshipment. As of today, export coal (mainly coal mined in Kuzbass) accounts for 98% of the company’s turnover with 1.5% of the coastal trade coal and 0.01% of other cargoes. The company’s assets include a Specialized Coal Terminal with conveyer equipment system and railcar unloading station and a Universal Handling Terminal which specializes in clamshell coal handling. The Terminals’ annual capacities are 14.2 mln tonnes and 3 mln tonnes respectively.

In 2012, Vostochny Port commenced the construction of the Third phase of the Coal Terminal.

Managing Port Company LLC is the sole executive body of Vostochny Port OJSC.
