Maersk Line announces new port call in Egypt
With the addition of Sokhna, Maersk Line now stands as the only carrier offering services in all major ports in Egypt including Port Said East, Port Said West, Damietta, Alexandria and Dekheila, the company said in its press release.
Maersk Line's new feeder set up will start on March 16, 2016 and its first call to Sokhna is scheduled on March 23, 2016. Sokhna will be served by its 344 feeder service. Rotation will be as follows:
King Abdullah (Saudi Arabia) – Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) – Aqaba (Jordan) – Sokhna (Egypt)
Sokhna port is located 40 kilometres below the southern entrance of the Suez Canal, on the West Coast of the Gulf of Suez. Catering for approximately 20% of containerized market volume for Egypt, Sokhna has been a preferred gateway for the Eastern trades over the past years, with Far East and Middle East as the main trading route.
