In accordance with the Ministry of Construction's resolution (April 11, 2016 №47-30-0273-2016 MS) the north approach channel to the sea port of Ust-Luga previously completed has been commissioned, the project Customer – FSUE Rosmorport said.
Creation of the channel was carried out from November 2010 to December 2014 in the framework of the sub-program "Maritime Transport" of the federal target program "Development of Transport System of Russia (2010-2020)". The channel will ensure safe navigation and access of large-tonnage tankers to Berths NoNo 1 - 7 of oil terminals in the Port of Ust-Luga.
After dredging the new channel has a length of 5,92 km, width of 205 m and depth of 17,5 m on the stretch No1, No2, No3 and on the straight part of the channel, and a depth of 18 meters on the stretch No4 and on the channel's turning basin.
The contractor dredged nearly 8.6 million tonnes. The investment in the project reached about RUB 1.59 billion from the federal budget, and 6.4 million rubles from Rosmorport's own funds.
