On May 16, 2016, Kaliningrad Region held a presentation of a leisure boat built at the local shipyard Ushakovskiye Verfi in 2016, says the press center of Kaliningrad Region Governor Nikolai Tsukanov who attended the event.

It is the first passenger ship with such characteristics to be built in the Kaliningrad region. Her length is 22.5 m, width – 6 m, capacity – 55 passengers.

“On the one hand, it is a new step in development of water tourism; on the other hand, it is a support of our manufacturers. A background should be created for shipbuilding to ensure regular orders. Another important goal can be achieved only through cooperation of the business and the authorities – development of water tourism infrastructure in the Kaliningrad Region,” emphasized the Governor.

The ship was ordered by shipping company Aqua Voyage.  In 2015, it won a competition for a subsidy under a regional programme on support of small and medium business. The resources were provided for equipment of the ship.

The Kaliningrad Region has a system of waterways (bays, navigable rivers and canals) which allows for sailing from the Baltic Sea along the Visla bay, Pregolya and Deima rivers to the Couronian lagoon, or from Deima river to Neman by canals. A passage available from the Visla bay to the Couronian lagoon allows for yachts to sail from Germany to the Black Sea.

International waterways Е-70 runs along the rivers, canals and bays without entering the sea which makes it safe and attractive for river tourism purposes.
