The number of cruise calls to seaport Korsakov (19 calls by Princess operated liners in 2015) gave an impetus to the project on construction of a sea terminal, IAA PortNews journalist cites Ivan Shevchenko, Head of Tourism Department at Sakhalin Region’s Tourism Agency, as saying at the 2nd Pacific Tourism Forum in Vladivostok.
The Project implying the construction of a checkpoint, reconstruction of the quay wall and dredging works is estimated at RUB 2.5 bln. It is financed by the Corporation for the Development of the Sakhalin Region. Delivery is preliminary scheduled for 2018.
The maiden call of the Princess liner with Japanese tourists was made in 2013 under the initiative of the operator. The ship was serviced off the harbor as the depth at the port’s berth is not enough for mooring of such vessels.
