In January-June 2016, Vostochny Port JSC handled 11.3 mln t of cargo (+0.4%, year-on-year).
According to the stevedore’s statistics, coal exports in June totaled 2.2 mln t, up 3.5%, year-on-year, despite unfavorable weather conditions.
Early June saw a record high daily unloading of coal – 1,263 wagons while the norm set forth by Russian Railways is 980 wagons per day.
Gradual increase of cargo throughput is driven by the large scale expansion of the stevedoring company’s fleet of equipment. In 2015 and in the first half of 2016 Vostochny Port acquired over 50 units of new equipment.
JSC Vostochny Port is the major stevedoring company of Russia specializing in coal transshipment. The Company comprises two production and handling complexes:
• Specialized Coal Terminal equipped with conveyer system and railcar unloading station. Its automation level is as high as 98.9%. Annual capacity – 14.2 mln t of coal;
• Universal Handling Terminal specializing in clamshell coal handling. Its annual capacity is 3 mln t.
In 2015, the company handled 22.8 mln t of coal, one fifth of all coal exports from the seaports of Russia and about 32% of coal transshipped in the ports of Russia’s Far East.
JSC Vostochny Port is implementing a large scale investment project on construction of the coal terminal’s Phase 3 including the federal railway infrastructure. Phase 3 facilities will be put into operation in 2017 and will let the company handle up to 39 mln t of coal per year by 2019. The terminal will export coal produced in Kuzbass and in other coal basins of Russia.
