Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg replenishes its motor pool
Within the programme of modernization of equipment 2 rail-mounted cranes MANTSINEN К-200(ES) were delivered to the berths of OJSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” (SP SPb, part of UCL Holding), says the Company’s press center. Equipment was purchased for handling of general and bulk cargoes according to scheme “berth-vessel” at the First area of the port.
Maximum lifting capacity of each crane amounts to 32.8 tons, with full boom outreach of 34 meters – 11 tons. Operation of crane is performed by electric-hydraulic drives which ensure high level of economic efficiency and environmental safety.
For quick and safe operation MANTSINEN К-200(ES) are equipped by video surveillance system and by hydraulic control cabin on two-section hoisting facility which allows its movement during handling operation for better view of the operator.
Additionally the company purchased four grabs with capacity of 6 m3 each.
New equipment will allow SP SPb to increase intensity of handling of cargoes. Cranes are planned to be put into operation in the first decade of August after all customs procedures. At the present time the company trains its personnel to use new equipment.
OJSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” (included in UCL Port – stevedoring division of the International transportation group UCL Holding) – is the largest operator, rendering services on handling of all types of dry cargoes in the Greater Port of Saint-Petersburg. It operates by modern multipurpose specialized terminals for handling of general and bulk cargoes and specialized terminals for ro-ro cargoes. In 2015 the turnover of the company amounted to 7.9 mln tons.
