The transfer of the Arctic permanent border outpost in the village of Sabetta based on Yamal Peninsula, Russia to Border Guard Service of Russia will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2016. The procedure was discussed at a meeting of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug Governor Dmitry Kobylkin with the head of the FSB's Border Guard Service Department for the Western Arctic region, Lt. Gen. Igor Konstantinov, the regional administration press office said.
The meeting was focused on strengthening the security of the Far North of the country borders within the boundaries of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, in the area of seaport Sabetta.
Yamal LNG together with regional authorities has constructed there and equipped all the necessary facilities for the border guard service, including a garage for special-purpose machinery, the office and accommodations, with state-of-the-art equipment to perform border service duties in the strategic area. The Sabetta boarder guard post will be in charge of patrolling not only the coastal boundary, but the Kara Sea as well.
