Fish port operator Vladmorrybport reports 44% volume growth to 1.9 million tonnes in Jan-Jul, 2016
Handling of cargo by JSC Vladivostok Sea Fishing Port (Vladmorrybport) in January-July 2016 increased by 44% on the same period 2016 to 1,921,600 tonnes, the company told IAA PortNews.
The seven-month throughput figures are as follows:
fish products – 173,400 tonnes (+ 13.2%); bulk cargo – 613,100 tonnes (+ 100%); containers - 76,873 TEUs (+ 34,9%); scrap metal – 203,900 tonnes (+ 8.5%).
The share of fish products in total cargo volumes shows upward trend. Actually, the volume surge was the result of port infrastructure modernization programs. This helped boost productivity and ship handling time, the company said.
OJSC Vladivostok Sea Fishing Port is a leading port of the Far East region. The port is capable of handling up to 5 million tonnes of cargo a year, including 200,000 TEUs of containerized cargo. The company has a multipurpose handling facility, with 2-km-long waterfront encompassing ten berths 2020 m, the port's 10-km-long rail tracks and thee engines enable the port operate 7/24 unloading / loading freight, receiving up to 71 railcars a day.
