ESL Shipping’s ice-strengthened supramax vessel Arkadia contracted to transport iron ore from Canada to Germany

ESL Shipping says its ice-strengthened supramax vessel Arkadia has been contracted to transport iron ore from Mary River Ore Mine, Canada to Bremen, Germany. The agreement consists of two to three consecutive trips depending on the final schedules. The Arkadia has recently loaded its first consignment and departed from Milne Port, Baffin Island bound for Germany.

Operated by Baffinland Iron Mines, the Mary River Project is located on northern Baffin Island in the Canadian Arctic. As a part of the Baffin Bay, the Milne Inlet area is navigable only a short period during summer months when part of the bay is open from the ice.
