Scania will introduce marine engines meeting the requirements of TIER III

Scania will present SCR emission control technique for marine engines in Hamburg Messe (Hall A3, stand 114), says SPB Marine, official Scania engine dealer. SCR has already been used for industrial engines by Scania and now this solution will be applied to the marine engines.
This step is caused by the tightening of international legislation related to the NOx emissions. The new TIER III standard came into force on the 1st of January 2016 which is going to be applied in the special control areas: Baltic and North Sea, some coastal regions near the USA and Canada, and also the region of Caribbean Sea.
Currently the issue of the emission compliance is solved by the installation of the equipment on engine from the third party and it is rather expensive and implies additional design work. Scania suggests standard solution which is already adapted to the product line.
The presentation of the marine engines TIER III will be held in the Hamburg Messe on the 6 – 9th of September 2016 (Hall A3, stand 114).
