Two additional container cranes installed at Incheon New Port

Two additional container cranes have been installed at Incheon New Port’s Sun Kwang New port Container Terminal (SNCT) for two days from September 17, the company said in its press release.
 
The newly installed equipment at SNCT is special ship to shore (STS) cranes designed to unload cargoes from containerships. At the moment, a total of seven quay cranes including five installed in the first phase in the quay section (410 meters) are in place at Incheon Port.
 
The new mid- to large-size cranes at SNCT weigh 985 tons, are 123 meters long and 102 meters wide respectively and were produced by Hanjin Heavy Industries. They are able to do 18-line unloading work while moving on a 700-meter rail. Its outreach is 51 meters long. The crane is capable of unloading 50 containers an hour.
 
A ship with the two cranes had docked at SNCT on September 17 and finished unloading them on the next day. Afterwards, the finish work will be done in November. The work includes a test drive and the installation of an IT system.
 
In the meantime, SNCT will open the entire part of its 480,000-quare-meter quay which is 800 meters long in January of next year. The complete opening of Incheon New Port is expected to give a boost to Incheon Port’s logistics service as it will facilitate a pelagic route service and the come-and-go of large vessels.
