CLdN Ro-Ro starts new intermodal service between the ports of Zeebrugge and Lyon

In the early morning of 25 October, the first train of CLdN Ro-Ro's new rail service to Lyon left the port of Zeebrugge. The new rail service is an initiative of CLdN Ro-Ro, subsidiary company of Cobelfret, connecting the port of Zeebrugge to Port Edouard Herriot in Lyon, the port of Zeebrugge said in its press release.

This intermodal solution reflects the company's strategy to offer more sustainable transport. CFL Intermodal is the operational partner for the new rail connection.

For the port of Zeebrugge, this rail initiative means an expansion of the hinterland connections to the existing network, allowing the port's customers and operators to move their units in a fast and efficient way.

The train will depart each Tuesday morning, Thursday morning & Saturday morning from Zeebrugge and depart each Wednesday morning, Friday morning and Saturday afternoon from Lyon, with a transit time of 22 hours in each direction. The train will be able to haul a total weight of 1.800 ton in a flexible and versatile manner, combining trailers, swapbodies and (tank) containers ranging from 20ft up to 45ft.

The port authority supports CLdN Ro-Ro's initiative and has organized a port promotion day with APZI Zeebrugge in Lyon.
