On 24 November 2016, Vyborg Shipyard JSC (corporate member of United Shipbuilding Corporation) will launch the hull of the lead icebreaking support ship of Aker Arc130A design being built for Gazprom Neft, says the shipyard.
The vessel’s cutting edge design provides high icebreaking capability and considerable manoeuvrability with comparatively shallow draught.
The shipyard says the vessel is assembled on a semisubmersible barge, the Atlant. When launched from the barge the ship will undergo outfitting.
Vyborg Shipyard is building two icebreaking support ships based on Aker ARC 130 A design. The ships are to be deployed at the Arctic terminal operated by LLC Gazprom Neft Novy Port and located in the Gulf of Ob (Yamal peninsula).
The ceremony will be attended by representatives of United Shipbuilding Corporation, Gazprom Neft, Russian Maritime Register of Shipping, suppliers and other partners of the shipyard.
