Four icebreakers will provide assistance in Azov Sea this winter navigation season (photo)

Four icebreakers of FSUE Rosmorport will provide assistance in Azov Sea in winter navigation season of 2016-2017, IAA PortNews correspondent cites Arkady Vakhonin, deputy head of Azov Sea Ports Administration, as saying at the dedicated regional meeting in Rostov-on-Don.

Vessels going to/from sea ports of Azov will be assisted by the following line icebreakers of FSUE Rosmorport: Kapitan Moshkin, Kapitan Demidov, Kapitan Chudinov and Kapitan Krutov.

According to Arkady Vakhonin, multi-functional rescue ship Spasatel Demidov and tugboats Admiral Lazarev and Admiral Serebryakov can be deployed if icebreaker assistance is required at Temryuk, Kerch or Kavkaz ports to assist operation of Krym-Kavkaz ferry service and construction of the Kerch Strait Bridge.  The vessels are currently based in Novorossiysk.

The fleet of tugboats available at the port of Azov numbers twelve ice-class ships, port Yeisk – three, port Kavkaz - seven, Kerch – nine, Rostov-on-Don – twenty two, Taganrog – three, Temryuk – three.
