The volume of seaborne cargo shipped in transit along the Northern Sea Route, as of December 1, 2016 reached 6.9 million tonnes, an official of the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia said Tuesday.
Alexander Cybulski, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of Russia, speaking at a cession of the state commission on development of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation said that was a record figure.
During the international forum “The Arctic Projects: Today and Tomorrow" in Arkhangelsk first deputy head of the NSR Administration Nikolai Monko has said that cargo shipping along the Northern Sea Route (NSR) by the 2016 year-end results could reach a record high of 6.06 million tonnes.
