Russian Railways' network loading up 0.6% to 1.22 bln t in 2016

In January-December 2016, the network of Russian Railways loaded 1.222 bln t, up 0.6%, the Company’s press center says.

In the reporting period the railways shipped the following goods:

coal – 328.6 mln t (+1.7%, year-on-year); coke – 11.7 mln t (+5.5%); crude and oil products – 235.8 mln t (-6.1%); iron and manganese ores – 109.5 mln t (+0.5%); ferrous metal – 71 mln t (-0.5%); ferrous metal scrap – 15 mln t (+0.3%); chemical and mineral fertilisers – 53.5 mln t (+4%); cement – 26.7 mln t (-6.9%); forest cargo – 42.2 mln t (+6.9%); grain – 19 mln t (+1.5%); construction material – 141 mln t (+7.9%); non-ferrous ore and sulphur feedstock – 21.1 mln t (+3.1%); chemicals and soda – 25.7 mln t (+2.6%); industrial feedstock and moulded materials  – 35 mln t (+0.3%).

In 2016 freight turnover totaled 2,342.3 bln tariff ton-km (+1.6%). Freight turnover taking into account empty wagon runs was 2,997.6 bln ton-km  (+1.4%).

In December Russian Railways loaded 105.2 mln t (+0.9%, year-on-year).

Freight turnover in December grew by 2.9% to 208.2 bln tariff ton-km. Freight turnover taking into account empty wagon runs was up 3.1% to 267 bln ton-km.
