The scope of maintenance dredging planned by FSUE Rosmorport for 2017 is to total 420,000 cbm at the port of Makhachkala.
Rosmorport says the main target of the works is to ensure design dimensions of hydraulic engineering structures at the port.
The project on maintenance dredging in the water area and at the approaches to the port of Makhachkala till 2019 was approved in 2014 upon obtaining of state environmental approval.
Starting from 2015 the dredging works in the port have been performed round-the-year by the fleet of Rosmorport and its contractors.
Multi-bucket dredger Dnestr with hopper barges and trailing suction hopper dredger Sommers built by Krasnoye Sormovo shipyard for FSUE Rosmorport in 2016 are currently involved in the operations.
Dredged material is pumped by discharge pipe to the shore dump area.
