Russia’s largest coal stevedore Vostochny Port JSC (a part of Port Management Company LLC) says it is going to spend up to RUB 300 mln for construction of wind protection facilities this year. 18-metre high structures are intended for the operating coal handling facilities and for Phase 3 of the port.

To ensure the highest efficiency of the protection facilities the company performed mathematical modeling and selected certain project solutions. Depending on the screen position it can perform wind protecting or dust protecting function.

Additional allocations for environmental activities are to make RUB 100 mln this year. Half of it is to be spent for further modernization of round-the-day monitoring system and for purchase of new dust cleaning machines.

Vostochny Port is the only coal terminal in the Primorsky Territory where specificity of cargo was taken into consideration at the phase of design. Apart from special equipment allowing for handling of large amount of coal with minimum impact on the environment the terminal features state-of-the-art technologies allowing for prevention of solids emission.

A dry fog system is used at the railcar dumpers to suppress the dust and the air is then extracted by pumps through filters. In order to suppress the dust during summer weather conditions, the sprinkling system is used at the outdoor storage sites, and during the winter season, snow guns generate snow to suppress dust.

Overturning stations are furnished with shelters, wh ere air is drafted by special fans and advances to the aspiration systems.

21 air purification units and 8 wastewater treatment plants are in round-the-clock operation.

These facilities utilize multi-level filtration that ensures that the level of waste water purity is able to satisfy the criteria of the fishery water bodies.

Vostochny Port JSC (Primorsky Territory) is Russia’s largest publicly available terminal equipped with wagon dumpers, conveyor systems, ship loading equipment and a unique multilevel system of magnetic separation. The terminal exports coal produced by different coal companies of Russia. In 2016 the port handled 23,5 mln t of coal, one fifth of all coal exports via Russian seaports and about  30% of coal transshipment via the ports of Russia’s Far East Basin.

Vostochny Port JSC LLC is implementing an ambitious investment project on construction of the coal terminal’s Phase 3 including the construction of the federal railway infrastructure. New terminal facilities will be put into operation in 2017 allowing for port capacity to reach 39 mln t in 2019. The coal will be delivered from Kuzbass and other coal fields of Russia.

A sole executive body of Vostochny Port JSC is Port Management Company LLC.
