At the Annual General Meeting, the Supervisory Board of Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) will propose the appointment of Dr. Rüdiger Grube as the new Chairman of the Supervisory Board. This decision was taken by the Supervisory Board at its meeting on 24 March 2017. The change is necessary as the term of office of the current Chairman, Prof. Dr. Peer Witten, is due to come to an end as of the Annual General Meeting on 21 June 2017, in line with the company’s articles of association. In addition to the appointment of Dr. Grube, who until recently held the position of Chairman of the Executive Board at Deutsche Bahn AG, Mr. Michael Westhagemann (Industrial Association Hamburg) is to be elected as the successor to Dr. Bernd Egert (former State Secretary) on the Supervisory Board.
In reference to the planned change to the Supervisory Board leadership, Minister for Economy, Transport and Innovation Frank Horch stated on behalf of majority shareholder, the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, “Dr. Rüdiger Grube is an outstanding logistics manager with a great affinity for Hamburg and we are very pleased to see him take on this role. The Senate of Hamburg would like to thank Prof. Witten for the commitment he demonstrated as the Chairman of HHLA’s Supervisory Board and acknowledges his success and numerous achievements. During his term of office spanning ten years, HHLA as the largest employer in the Port of Hamburg saw robust development. Under the leadership of Mr. Witten the Supervisory Board has also passed the torch to the next generation within HHLA’s Executive Board.”
