Amended Water Code of Russia will require no water use agreements for operation of facilities at seaports

RF Government has submitted to the State Duma the amendments into the draft Federal Law “On Introduction of Amendments into the Water Code” that was earlier approved in the first reading, IAA PortNews correspondent cites Nadezhda Zhikhareva, deputy head of Federal Marine and River Transport Agency (Rosmorrechflot) as saying at the general meeting (30th conference) of the Association of Commercial Sea Ports.

With the mentioned amendments the operators of seaports will be allowed to use water bodies for navigation and berthing of vessels without signing of water use agreements.

Nadezhda Zhikhareva says the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation have agreed on the issue.

“When amended, the Water Code will require no water use agreements for operation of facilities at seaports”, said deputy head of Rosmorrechflot.
