JSC “Vostochny Port”, in conjunction with “Management Port Company, LLC”, has begun the implementation of the annual Eco-marathon project aimed at fostering a culture of caring towards nature. The first stage of the Eco-marathon 2017 was an intellectual ecological battle amongst students and school children of the Nakhodkinsky Municipal District.
The eco-battle entails preparing reports, presentations and videos about sea mammals. The jury, comprising the representatives of the Department of Education and Youth Affairs Division of Nakhodka City, will choose the winner at the end of April. “Vostochny Port” and “Management Port Company, Ltd. will present the successful candidates with state of the art gadgets.
“We welcome an unconventional, creative approach to the presentation. We even chose an unusual name for the contest, Eco-battle, to convey this message to the participants”, – says the Press Service department of JSC “Vostochny Port”.
Eco-marathon 2017, with the slogan “Saving the Planet Together!”, will encompass many interesting socially relevant events for the city and the region, including landscaping, volunteer clean-ups on popular city beaches and the cleaning of the sea floor by scuba-divers, a joint research expedition with faculty members and ecology students of the G.I. Nevelskoy Maritime State University to investigate the prevalence of micro-plastics in the Sea of Japan, an ecological tour to the territory of JSC “Vostochny Port” and a demonstration of innovative environmental protection systems.
The summer ecological “art initiative that’s taking place” in Vladivostok will be a major stage of Eco-marathon 2017, yet the organizers keep the lid on details. The event is expected to be devoted to issues relating to the use of plastics.
