Passenger terminal for large cruise ships to be built at port Korsakov (Sakhalin)

Sea Gate of Sakhalin LLC will build a marine passenger terminal with a pier for cruise ships at port Korsakov in the Sakhalin Region.  According to the press center of the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East, the facility is to be put into operation in 2019.

The company signed an agreement with the Far East Development Corporation having obtained the status of a resident of Free Port of Vladivostok in the Korsakov municipality.

Sea Gate of Sakhalin is going to invest RUB 2.992 bln in the project and create 27 jobs.

The project provides for construction of a pier with the length of 300 metres and width of 30 metres for cruise and passenger ships. The new facility will be an extension of the existing Southern Pier of port Korsakov. It will protect the port from tidal waves and storms, thus making the first refuge harbor on the Sakhalin island.

Design capacity of the terminal is about 130,000 persons per year. There will be checkpoints of RF state border, a departure lounge, a recreational area, a zone for control services, a parking area for buses and other infrastructure facilities.

According to Ruslan RUmyantsev, Director General of Sea Gate of Sakhalin LLC, the project will let create a safe transport corridor for round-the-year ferry link between Sakhalin and the mainland, the Kuril islands and the APR countries. This will make the region more attractive for tourists and investors.

As of today, the status of a resident of Free Port of Vladivostok in the Korsakov municipality is granted to 6 companies with total volume of investments exceeding RUB 6 bln and a plan to generate more than 150 jobs.
