Innovative developments of Krylov State Research Center presented in SPIEF business agenda

Krylov State Research Center (KSRC) says its innovative developments were presented in the SPIEF business agenda, at Innovative materials and technologies in underwater Arctic offshore developments session arranged by Committee on Industrial Policy and Innovations, Administration of St. Petersburg. The relevance of these activities is demonstrated by the Agreement on Cooperation between Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade (Minpromtorg) and JSC Gazprom signed during the Forum by Denis Manturov, Russian Minister of Industry and Trade, and Alexey Miller, CEO of Gazprom. This Agreement envisages the cooperation in import substitution of hardware and accessories for offshore production facilities, and KSRC has a solid level of competences in this sphere.

The 21st St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) held on June 1–3 at Expoforum convention & exhibition centre confirmed its repute of one of the largest and the most influential discussion platforms in the world, beating the records in the numbers of Russian and foreign participants, geography of the countries represented and the scope of the deals struck. The total worth of the deals, according to Anton Kobyakov, Advisor of the Russian President, is nearly two trillion roubles.

The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, giving his speech during the Forum, highlighted the special importance of domestic developments and competences in the spheres critical for Russian economic growth, and shipbuilding is one of these. According to Mr. Putin, Arctic developments and offshore projects in the Arctic seas are strategically important for our country.

In this light, it was easy to understand the special interest of the SPIEF participants to the model of a multi-purpose nuclear leader-type icebreaker currently being developed jointly by Iceberg Design Bureau and KSRC and showcased among the exhibits of St. Petersburg. In particular, Sergey Sobyanin, Mayor of Moscow, and Georgy Poltavchenko, Governor of the St. Petersburg were introduced to all details of this project by Alexander Ryzhkov, Director General of Iceberg.
