In January-May 2017, the port of Kaliningrad handled 5,415,800 t of cargo, up 3%, year-on-year, says Baltic Sea Ports Administration.
Transshipment of dry bulk cargo grew 2.1 times to 1,108,400 t including 258,700 t of coal (+4%). Transshipment of mineral fertilizers fell by 76% to 2,800 t with other cargoes showing an increase.
Transshipment of dry loose cargo dropped by 22% to 1,491,400 t, transshipment of general cargo fell by 20% to 527,600 t.
The port’s container throughput grew by 28.1% to 93,190 TEUs.
Transshipment of cargoes carried by ferries totaled 627,900 t (+4%), liquid bulk cargo – 1,210,600 t (+7%) including 642,300 t of oil products (+14%), 276,900 t of crude oil (-18%) and 264,400 t of food (+23%).
In 2016, the port of Kaliningrad handled 11.70 mln t (-8%).
