Glosten completes design of 150-passenger hybrid electric ferry for Kitsap Transit

Naval architecture and marine engineering consultancy Glosten (Siettle, USA) has completed the design of a new passenger hybrid ferry for transport agency Kitsap Transit (Bremerton, Wash.), Glosten said in a press release.

The 21.3-meter-long hybrid electric ferry of catamaran type with aluminum hull is intended for transportation of up to 150-passenger. The passenger vessel will be the first in Puget Sound. The ferry is capable of carrying more than 350,000 passengers annually.

The vessel will be built at All American Marine shipyard (Bellingham). The ferry will be powered by battery-diesel hybrid propulsion system (2 BAE HybriDrive) driving fixed pitch propellers.

Glosten designed the ferry in conjunction with Kitsap Transit. The vessel features a variety of passenger spaces, a unique ADA-accessible bow, and a spacious passenger cabin and sun deck.

Seattle, USA based engineering consultancy Glosten was founded in 1958.
