Throughput of Ukraine's Port of Odessa up 5% to 12.24 mln t in Jan-June'17
The Port of Odessa says its throughput in January-June 2017 totaled 12.24 mln t (+5%, year-on-year).
In the reporting period the port handled 4,336,000 t of grain (+12.3 % year-on-year), 252,570 TEUs of containerized cargo (+ 9.9 %), 1,169,600 t of liquid bulk cargo (+36.7%), 2,715,300 t of ferrous metal (against 3,132,900 t in HI’2016).
In June, the port’s stevedoring companies handled 1,805,900 t of cargo (+28.3%, year-on-year)
Ukraine based Port of Odessa is one of the largest ports of the Black Sea-Azov basin. It covers the area of 141 hectares and can accommodate vessels of up to 330 m in length and up to 13 m in draft. Water front of the port exceeds 9 km. The port’s technical capacities allow handling of more than 25 million tons of dry and 25 million tons of bulk cargoes annually. Container terminals provide handling of over 900,000 TEU per year. The passenger terminal is capable to serve up to 4 million tourists a year.
