Cargo throughput at the terminals of stevedoring company “Tuapse Commercial Sea Port OJSC” (TCSP, part of UCL Holding) in January-June 2017 increased by 3.7% year-on-year to 7.5 million tonnes, TCSP's half-year performance report shows.
The six-month volume growth (more than 270,000 tonnes) was attributed to a 14.7% gain in coal exports (1.62 million tonnes). Handling of ferrous metals also increased to 1.26 million tonnes (+ 15.7%) and of petroleum products to 3.75 million tonnes (+ 3.6%).
There was an upward trend in the share of new types of cargo the stevedore handles in the segment of export ferrous metals. While exports of slabs declined by 12% volumes of steel billets, rods and armature that were not handled last year totaled 142,000 tonnes. There was a dramatic growth from a year earlier in volumes of steel coils - to 165,000 tonnes (only 6,000 tonnes – in H1, 2016).
In the reporting period 900,000 tonnes of grain were exported through the Tuapse CSP grain terminal, which represents a 21% drop on the same period a year earlier. This was attributed to a decline in overall demand for grain in 2Q, 2017.
Total exports increased by 4.3% y-o-y accounting for 100% of the half-year fright throughput at TCSP. In the reporting period the port did not handle import goods.
Between January and June the stevedoring company handled 341 vessels, including 149 dry bulk carriers and 192 oil tankers and 53 490 railcars.
