In January-July 2017, the Port of Helsinki (Finland) handled 8.05 mln t of cargo (+11.5%, year-on-year), the port authority says.
Transshipment of unitized cargo grew by 10.5% to 6.83 mln t, bulk cargo - by 17.6% to 1.08 mln t, foreign cargo – by 11.4% to 7.92 mln t.
The port’s container traffic grew by 2.8% to 275,930 TEUs.
Transshipment of trucks and semitrailers grew by 10.2% to 335,770 units.
Passenger traffic climbed by 1.9% to 6.94 mln passengers.
The number of calls declined by 0.3% to 5.04 calls.
The Port of Helsinki is one of the largest ports in Finland, the largest passenger port and the third largest in the Baltic Sea. The Port of Helsinki accounts for 77% of Finland's passenger traffic. In 2016, the port handled 11.62 mln t of cargo (+1.9%, year-on-year).
