Board taps Vadim Mikhailov as first VP of RZD

The Board of Directors of JSC Russian Railways (RZD) has appinted Vadim Mikhailov as the first Vice-President, Economics and Finance of Russia’s state owned rail operator, the RZD press office said.

The decision is related with the assignment to Mr. Mikhailov of additional duties to develop and implement the company's expansion strategy. Mr. Mikhailov will be responsible for the railway restructuring, for encouraging investments in the development of rail transport. He will also supervise RZD’s transport, logistics and commercial divisions.

The appointment did not change the number of RZD Board members.

Mr. Vadim Mikhailov was born in 1969 in Michurinsk, Tambov region. He graduated in 1992 from the State Finance Academy, degree in Finance and Loans.

In 1992-2003 he started his career with audit company Arthur Andersen and was promoted from economist to Bank Audit Department Director. Between 2003 and August 2009 he was director and CEO of Ernst & Young-Business Consulting.

Since 2009 and before the recent appointment Mr. Mikhailov was Senior Vice President of Russian Railways.
