Forth serial Grachonok-class boat (Project 21980) to undergo final shipbuilder’s trials

The fourth in a series of counter-sabotage boat of Project 21980 (Grachonok class vessel) built at Rybinsk based Vympel Shipyard has been towed to a delivery / commissioning base, the shipbuilding firm said.

The counter-sabotage cutter will undergo second phase of shipbuilder’s and state acceptance trials. The Russian Navy’s Grachonok-class vessel was designed for water region patrol, to combat sabotage and terrorist forces, to assist the Russian Border Service of the Federal Security Service. Upon completion of delivery / acceptance trials the cutter will be commissioned into service with the Northern Fleet and be homeported in Polyarny, a town in Murmansk Region.

The Grachonok-class ship (Hull Number 01224) was launched at Vympel Shipyard in June 2017 and had passed dockside trials and shipbuilder’s Phase 1 trials. Builders tested the vessel’s main engines and equipment in operational modes, her seaworthiness and maneuverabilit.
