In continuing the introduction of good governance principles at the Freeport of Riga, the Board of the Freeport of Riga has approved the Medium-term Action Strategy of the subsidiary company of the Freeport of Riga Authority, Rīgas brīvostas flote Ltd., for 2017-2022 at the meeting on September sixth. FRA says the goal of the strategy is to ensure the effective use of Rīgas brīvostas flote Ltd. resources and to define the company’s position in the market, goals to be achieved and performance indicators. The strategy envisages increasing the company’s market share, turnover and profit over the next five years.
“For the subsidiary company of the Freeport of Riga Authority, Rīgas brīvostas flote Ltd., we have set the goal to become one of the leading providers of technical and economic services of the port. This can be achieved by ensuring the optimal use of resources, as well as by means of basic port services, created based on examples from the most advanced European ports. By strengthening the activity of Rīgas brīvostas flote Ltd., the overall competitiveness of Riga Port will be increased, making it even more attractive for customers and investors. Introduction of good company governance practices and successful implementation of this strategy will ensure the stable development of Rīgas brīvostas flote Ltd. over the next five years”, emphasised Ansis Zeltiņš, CEO of the Freeport of Riga Authority.
Currently, Rīgas brīvostas flote Ltd. provides pilot transfer and tugboat rental services, ensures navigation of ships under ice conditions, carries out infrastructure management, measuring of depth of the port water area and navigation canals, processing of hydro-graphic data and ensuring the operation of the navigational systems. The company employs 130 persons; last year its turnover amounted to 3,786,337 EUR and 1,361,680 EUR was paid in taxes.
