HHLA hosts exchange between members of UmweltPartnerschaft Hamburg

Approximately 60 representatives from Hamburg industry and from the Ministry for the Environment and Energy met for an exchange on the topic of “Using energy flexibly” at HHLA Container Terminal Altenwerder (CTA). The central thesis was that the energy transition would only be possible if all actors and components in the energy system could be linked intelligently with the help of digital processes, the company said in its press release.

The most recent development is that the current generation of automated container transporters (AGVs) is powered by lithium-ion batteries, which can be recharged in approximately one and a half hours at a fully-automatic filling station. During their dwell time at the filling station, the AGVs can also be used as power stores. Since they take in and give out electricity within seconds, they contribute to the necessary stabilisation of the supply frequency.

The “UmweltPartnerschaft Hamburg” (Environmental Partnership Hamburg) has been Hamburg’s institution for promoting voluntary environmental protection in industry since 2003, and is supported by the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce, the Hamburg Chamber of Trade, the Industrieverband Hamburg e.V. (IVH), the Unternehmensverband Hafen Hamburg e.V. (UVHH) and the Senate. More than 1,050 companies are currently active environmental partners and are contributing to environmental protection.
